Company Security Officer (CSO)

What is Role of the CSO ?

 The Company Security Officer is designated by the shipping company. CSO may act as the company security officer for one or more ship, depending on the number or types of ship the company operates, and company security officer responsible for :

  1. Ensuring that ship security assessment are carried out.
  2. Ensuring the development,submission for approval, implementation and maintenance of ship security plans.
  3. Arranging for internal audits and reviews of security activities, and ship verification,as well as ensuring that deficiencies and non-conformity identified are properly addressed. 
  4. Advising on the level of threats likely to be encountered by the ship, using appropriate security assessments and other relevant information.
  5. Ensuring adequate training for personal responsible for the security of the ship.
  6. Ensuring effective communication and co-operation between the ship security officer and the relevant port Facility Security officer.
